The Nomads Basketball program has been participating in competitive travel basketball in the Western Suburbs of Chicago since 1996. The program provides its players with skill development and ample playing time in order to best prepare them to play high school basketball.
Nomads teams play between 30 - 40 Conference and Tournament games per season between the months of November and March. These games are supported by weekly practices (2x's to 3x's per week).
September 1, 2020 Update
We hope that our Nomads Basketball community is doing well and staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. The Nomads organization wanted to provide a brief update on our upcoming season. We will be making decisions based on applicable state and local guidelines, as the safety and health of our players, families and coaches are our top priority.
The Illinois youth sport guidelines released at end of July 2020 provides that basketball is a medium risk activity. As a medium risk activity, basketball under the guidelines can be participated at Level 1 (no-contact practices, and trainings only) and Level 2 (intra-team scrimmages allowed, with parental consent for minors; no competitive play). Consequently, at this time, we are not allowed to play in competitive games or tournaments under the guidelines.
At this time, we will not be hosting tryouts at the 6th – 8th grade level. Depending on current player commitment, some teams at that grade level may have availability to add players. The Nomads program does anticipate moving forward with tryouts for our 4th – 5th grade teams on September 12. 2020 - please contact Ken Mikesh at if interested in the 5th grade team and Ed Ritzert at if interested in the 4th grade team.
We will keep you posted on any developments, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we continue to navigate through these uncertain and ever-changing waters.
